More new HNIA

Sweet Earth Flower, a tribute to jazz saxophonist and composer Marion Brown, comes out on Philadelphia label High Two November 6th. It contains music recorded at Brown Rice Studio in Detroit as well as a few tracks from a 2004 concert at the University of Michigan Museum of Art.

The Firefly Drgaonly EP is out now on Spain's Acuarela Records. It is the product of an all acoustic recording session in Livonia, Michigan that called for four guitars, double bass, harp, harmonium, piano, and a song by Sufjan Stevens.

Landed

It's summer, and I'm back home in Ann Arbor after five weeks of van dwelling. Thanks so much to all our friends and fans who came out. Thanks to Create (!) and Libbie Linton and other incredible artists who shared the stage with us.

There are plenty more NOMO shows coming up throughout the summer and still more to be added. In addition, we're putting together plans for the fall, which will include WOMEX 2006 in Sevilla, Spain and some other Europe dates.

Tour dates confirmed

Dates have been set for NOMO and His Name Is Alive to tour together this May and June. We'll be hitting all four corners of the States in a somewhat-clockwise fashion. Come say hi! As Warn says, bring a tamborine!

In addition, NOMO will play some pre-tour shows in Michigan and Chicago to celebrate the release of New Tones, which comes out May 9th on Ubiquity Records.

The shows page has it all.

NOMO 12"

Last week, Dutch label Kindred Spirits released the Better Than That EP. The 12" vinyl includes four songs from NOMO's self-titled first record.

Domestic distribution of this release is spotty, but it can be found on numerous European and UK online distributors. If you can't find it, let me know. I'll lend you mine.

"A winding ribbon with a band of gold"

The coming months will see me on the road quite a bit. The shows page will show you the way.

NOMO starts the journey South by Southwest next week for our late-night Habana Calle Seis Big Texan Steak Ranch party. Should definitely be a blast.

Immediately following that trip we'll turn the van right around for a mini west coast His Name Is Alive tour. These shows are all with Arab Strap from Scotland, and they're going to be... special.

Meanwhile, the NOMO spring/summer tour is being concocted as we speak. Dates will be posted soon.

Soon it will be bustling with content. For now, it's a place to find out about upcoming performances and admire my rudimentary web design skills.
